Extraordinary Moments With God
From Around The World

Duck, Duck, Goose

One cold evening several years ago, I made my way to the local hospital to see a friend who had been admitted to the emergency room. As I neared the door, I noticed two large ducks huddled together near the right side of the electronic doors. They were obviously suffering the wrath of the cold air that was blowing around them....

The Weight that Held Me Down

I was visiting my family at our lake house one day. I decided to take the row boat out into the middle of the lake to read my Bible. I paddled out to the middle of the lake dropped the anchor and began to enjoy the uninterrupted lull of the water slapping up against the boat. I sat in the quiet for quite a long time. All of a sudden a storm began to blow up...

God's Reassuring Light

It was early Spring of 1995. In January, I had lost my husband, age 48, to a blood clot. He had lived with addiction and pain and the loss of a daughter. Before he left us, God had spoken to his heart again and he had recommitted his life to our Lord. We were active in our church and had good jobs. Our children were making their own way in life and we were happy and proud. I was driving into town on a somewhat cloudy day that promised rain. I was missing Tom...

God Showed up at the Office

One day I was at work and the sun was coming in through the blinds in my office onto the floor. The shadows of the sun through the blinds made the beautiful cross on the floor and made the cross look like it was on a hill. It was framed by the sunlight in the most beautiful way. I had worked in that particular office for a little over 6 months and this had never happened before and never happened again the 3 years I worked in that office! The Lord had called my Daddy home about 6 months prior to this and I felt like it was God's way of letting me know that my Daddy was with Him and that everything was okay. It was one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen.

Losing My Son

My son Jim was killed in a car accident 14 years ago. The day we buried him I was in the closet praying. 'God, I can't do this, I can't put my one and only son into to the grave and just throw dirt upon him. It was at that nanosecond that God lifted me up and said...

Surprise! You're Pregnant!

After 12 years of crying and trying to have a baby we decided adoption was the course of action for us...even though God had specifically promised me years earlier during one of those intimate Hannah moments with him that He would give us a child. So we adopted the most perfect baby boy one could ask for and life was good. When he was 14 months old I began to get ill with intense headaches. After a couple of months and some test we discovered that I had an non-operative brain tumor without a lot of hope...

A Marriage of Violence transformed into A Marriage of Victory

Before I can tell you all the other wonderful things God is doing in our lives, I have to tell you about the painful past that preceded the victories. It is a disturbing story to tell and to hear, yet my hopes are you can see that it is truly a love story, about a woman, a man and the God who brought them together for His glory...

No More Stinkin' Thinkin'

One day I was having an all to frequent melt down in the form of "crying excessively" (frequently it is in the form of blowing up and losing all patience). Unfortunately this occurred in the presence of my small children (2,4,and 6). This behavior contributes to my complete feeling of worthlessness, failure as a mother, and lack of feeling in control of my self and my life...

Relief from Depression

I read your devotional about how Satan uses our own thoughts to deceive and discourage us. You gave a very good hint - attach "In Jesus Name" at the end of that thought to tell if it was of God. I felt a prompting in my spirit to send it to my sister. I didn't know how it affected her until she called me this morning...

How God Sees Me

For most of my adult life I have been on a quest to truly understand how God sees me. What does He really think of me? It is easy to read verses that speak to this question. But to really know it deep in my heart, to really believe it - that is the challenge. One morning as I was out for my daily walk I was really wrestling with this once again...

God is Bigger Than Autism

Not long ago, I was blessed by God to have the opportunity to care for a 7 year old boy named Aaron, who has autism. Aaron is such an angel--innocent, amazingly observant, and he has a contagious laugh that I will never forget! Children with autism have a hard time understanding the intangible such as time and dates. So when we started attending church, we were never sure how much Aaron grasped about Jesus and Christianity, since God isn't necessarily 'tangible'...
